Apple today at WWDC 2017 confirmed that Amazon Prime Video is coming to Apple TV later this year. Amazon will be integrated into the ‘TV’ app, too.
Amazon Video on Apple TV
Apple’s tvOS offers strong portfolio of popular apps but the world’s second-largest streaming service, Amazon Prime Video, has been missing since launch.
That will soon change Apple confirmed today at the annual developer conference WWDC.
- "I am thrilled to announce that Amazon Amazon is coming to tvOS and all Apple TVs later this year," said Tim Cook, Apple CEO.

Apple did not comment on exact timing but Tim Cook used the opportunity to confirm that Amazon will be integrated into the ‘TV’ app that was added on Apple TV recently. The ‘TV’ app is a type of modern TV guide for streaming services.
With the launch, it appears that the two giants have finally buried the hatchet that has kept Amazon Prime Video off Apple TV, and Apple TV off Amazon’s shelves.
Amazon made its streaming service available globally in December 2016. The company is also producing original content such as The Grand Tour, Transparent, Bosch and Mozart in the Jungle.
Tim Cook added that we will hear "a lot more about tvOS later this year".
