Stranger Things season 2 will be made available in 4K resolution and HDR on October 27, 2017. Netflix has also announced a 10-episode adaptation of ‘The Umbrella Academy’ that will debut globally in 2018.
Stranger Things in 4K HDR
The first season of Stranger Things was a surprise hit from Netflix last year. It was made available in 4K resolution, but HDR never arrived.
When the second season of Stranger Things arrives on October 27, 2017, it will be made available in both 4K resolution and HDR, the company’s release schedule confirms. The first season of the show will also be reissued in HDR10 and Dolby Vision, the company said earlier this year.
“Some doors can’t be closed”, the company teased alongside this poster.
The Umbrella Academy
Netflix also announced that it will bring a live action series adaptation of Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá’s ‘The Umbrella Academy’ comics and graphic novels to members worldwide in 2018.
- “The Umbrella Academy is a live action series that follows the estranged members of a dysfunctional family of superheroes (The Umbrella Academy) -- The Monocle, Spaceboy, The Kraken, The Rumor, The Séance, Number Five, The Horror, and The White Violin -- as they work together to solve their father’s mysterious death while coming apart at the seams due to their divergent personalities and abilities,” the company announced.
10 episodes will be made available sometime in 2018.
- “I am thrilled that The Umbrella Academy has found a home at Netflix. I couldn’t think of a better place for the vision Gabriel Bá and myself had when creating the comic, and cannot wait for people to experience that world as a live action show,” said Gerard Way.
