Microsoft: Over 100 games in 4K and/or HDR for Xbox One X

21 Aug 2017 | Rasmus Larsen |

At Gamescom, Microsoft announced that over 100 games will be enhanced in 4K resolution and/or High Dynamic Range for the upcoming Xbox One X at launch. The list includes Assassin’s Creed, Forza, and Dishonored.

Xbox One X enhanced games

All games available for Xbox One will work with the upcoming Xbox One X. However, to utilize the extra graphics power studios will need to implement 4K and HDR for each game.

Once Xbox One X hits the market, more than 100 games (118 at the time of writing) will be ’Xbox One X enhanced’, the company has announced. This covers 4K resolution and/or High Dynamic Range (HDR10 format). PlayStation 4 Pro launched with 42 titles.

Microsoft has positioned Xbox One X as a “true 4K game console” but it is important to emphasize that the ‘4K Ultra HD’ logo also covers games that use ”checkerboarding” and ”dynamic resolution”, just like PlayStation 4 Pro. When FlatpanelsHD reviewed PlayStation 4 Pro we found that HDR adds more to the visual experience than ”up to 4K” resolution does, provided that it is paired with a good HDR TV.

A full list of ’Xbox One X enhanced’ games is included below.

Xbox One X will launch globally on November 7 for $499 / €499.
