The upcoming update for Apple TV 4K – tvOS 11.2 – will introduce automatic mode switching to native frame rate and dynamic range on Apple TV 4K. Watch this video to see how it works.

You can try out the new features in tvOS 11.2 yourself as it has just been released as a public beta. Be aware that this is beta software so you may encounter bugs. Apple has published a guide here. The company has not announced when tvOS 11.2 will be officially released.
