Panasonic launches 2018 LCD models

06 Jun 2018 | Rasmus Larsen |

Panasonic’s new LCD TV ranges for 2018 are now shipping in Europe. These are mid-range 4K TVs with prices starting at around 650 Euro.

The FX ranges will replace last year’s EX ranges. The new mid-range TVs are based on LCD technology, with OLED making up the high-end of Panasonic’s 2018 TV line-up.

FX780 / FX750 has an ‘Art & Interior’ glass design, whereas the cheaper models come with more basic features and looks. All of the new FX models feature 4K resolution and are compatible with HDR (High Dynamic Range), including for the first time Samsung’s HDR10+ format that has been developed as a royalty-free alternative to Dolby Vision. However, none of Panasonic’s new LCD models are equipped with full array local dimming systems so HDR picture quality is unlikely to impress.

Panasonic’s 2018 LCD TVs will be available in sizes ranging from 43 to 65 inches. The company’s new OLED models will be available in June.

The company has decided to continue development on Firefox OS after Mozilla decided to throw in the towel. Firefox OS is now ‘My Home Screen 3.0’. The platform offers access to Amazon, Netflix, YouTube, and select other services. The new features in version 3.0 will not be made available to previous TVs.

Panasonic FX600, FX700, FX750, and FX780 are now shipping in most parts of Europe and will expand to more countries in the coming weeks. See prices and dealers below.
