Panasonic debuts 2019 UHD Blu-ray players with HDR10+ & Dolby Vision

At CES 2019, Panasonic has announced three new UHD Blu-ray players with HDR10+ support, one of which supports both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.

The new DP-UB450 UHD Blu-ray player is a more affordable option for those buyers who seek wide support for HDR formats. Like the more expensive UB9000 and UB820, UB450 supports both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, in addition to the base HDR10 format.

Panasonic highlighted that UB450 has twin HDMI output, one for video/audio and a separate dedicated to audio. The player handles Dolby Atmos and DTS:X as well as hi-res audio formats.

The company will also add affordable DP-UB159 and DP-UB150 UHD Blu-ray players to the line-up. These players support HDR10+ but lack support for Dolby Vision. The UB159 has twin HDMI output.

Panasonic was the first company to offer an UHD Blu-ray that supports both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision but other companies have since released or announced intentions to release updates. A few dozen Dolby Vision discs are available on the market but HDR10+ is lagging behind. We expect more updates on HDR10+ at CES 2019.

Panasonic DP-UB450, DP-UB159, and DP-UB150 will be available in 2019. Pricing details were not announced.
