The 2018 LG B8 and C8 OLED TVs are now available for the lowest prices to date from major US retailers, presumably to clear stocks before the 2019 TV models hit the market.
Starting at $1100 for a 55” LG OLED
LG’s B8 and C8 OLED models are now cheaper than on Black Friday and the Super Bowl sale, as noted by CNET.
The 55- and 65-inch B8 OLED TVs can currently be found for around $1100 and $1800 in the US, while the 55- and 65-inch C8 OLED TVs are available for around $1300 and $1900. Both Best Buy and Amazon are offering the TVs at around these prices, although Amazon’s prices appear to be slightly lower.
B8 and C8 are very similar but the latter has a more powerful video processor and a different design. The 77-inch C8 remains disproportionately more expensive.
In February, prices were also slashed in some European countries. In parts of Europe, a 55-inch LG B8 is currently available for 1100-1200 Euro. The lower prices on OLED TVs are putting pressure on premium LCD TVs and manufacturers are increasingly pushing larger TV formats to remain competitive.
LG has yet to announce availability and pricing details for its 2019 OLED models that will feature HDMI 2.1 ports. New TVs are typically introduced around March to May, depending on your region. It is likely that LG is trying to clear stocks before the new TV models arrive. We expect the 2019 models to be significantly more expensive at launch.
