Later this month, Yamaha will add AirPlay 2 compatibility to 15 of its soundbars, wireless speakers, and receivers. 23 receivers will gain HDMI eARC.

Yamaha AirPlay 2 update

Yamaha says that by adding AirPlay 2 users will be able to stream music from Apple Music and other streaming services to Yamaha speakers throughout the home.

- "Support for Apple AirPlay 2, adding the ability to stream Apple Music and other streaming services from your iPhone, iPad, HomePod and Mac to multiple Yamaha devices and other AirPlay 2-enabled speakers – simultaneously, perfectly in sync and throughout your home. And, with Siri on your iPhone, iPad, HomePod and AirPods, you can control what's playing in every part of your home with just your voice," the company said.

The update will start rolling out from late April. A full list of compatible products can be found in the table at the bottom.

In addition, Yamaha will add support for Spotify Connect with free Spotify accounts, Actions on Google (Assistant), and Qobuz streaming.

- "With these firmware updates, we're giving our customers more choices for how they enjoy their favorite music and audio content. Plus, they now have the option to use their favorite voice assistant, whether it's Siri, the Google Assistant or Alexa, to control the experience throughout their homes," said Alex Sadeghian, director, Consumer Audio, Yamaha Corporation of America.

AirPlay 2 is also supported on speakers and receivers from Marantz, Denon, Bang & Olufsen, Sonos, BlueSound, and Apple.
