Bose has announced that Apple AirPlay 2 support is now rolling out to Soundbar 500, Soundbar 700, and Home Speaker 500.

With AirPlay 2 you can stream TV audio (from Apple TV) and music (from iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac) wirelessly to multiple speakers at once. You can also mix and match speakers from different brands such as Apple, B&O, B&W, Bluesound, and Sonos.
Bose released an AirPlay 2 firmware update (version 3.1.7) earlier this week. Three products are included in the first round, specifically Soundbar 500, Soundbar 700, and Home Speaker 500.
- "We're excited to announce that AirPlay 2 is now available on your Smart Speakers and Soundbars! As many of you know, AirPlay 2 lets you stream music, podcasts and audio for video from any Apple device to your Bose product (including Apple Music!)," Bose announced.
The company has also announced AirPlay 2 support for its SoundTouch speakers but there are not included in the first round of updates. Bose says that it is still working on it.
- "We know many of our SoundTouch customers are also eager for AirPlay 2 functionality on their speakers, and while today's announcement only applies to our smart speakers and soundbars, rest assured we are still working on bringing the feature to SoundTouch as well.
AirPlay 2 has been rolling out to speakers from many brands over the last year, and even wider support is expected in the near future. For more details on how AirPlay 2 works with TV audio via Apple TV, read our in-depth HomePod review.
The Bose Soundbar 500 and Soundbar 700 are available for $550 and $800, respectively.
