After having released high-end OLED TVs and "NanoCell" LCD TVs, LG is completing its 2019 line-up with affordable LCD TVs. The TVs are compatible with Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit.
Affordable AirPlay 2 TVs
The new 'UM' generation of LCD TVs is available in sizes ranging from 43 to 86 inches. These are affordable TVs with 4K resolution that use mainly IPS LCD panels with direct LED.
LG's UM models are mostly identical from a technical point of view but are offered in various looks and configurations. For example, UM74 is black with a curved stand while UM73 is white with a two-foot stand. You can compare the different models in our LG 2019 TV line-up overview.

Together with Samsung's new 6, 7, and 8 series TVs, LG's UM models will be some of the most affordable TVs to support Apple AirPlay 2 that allows you to push video, music, and other media content from an iPhone, iPad or Mac wirelessly onto the TV screen. This will dramatically expand the list of supported streaming services on an LG TV.

Besides AirPlay 2, LG's TVs also support HomeKit, which is Apple's platform for the connected home. HomeKit will enable the user to control - and automate - certain aspects of the TV via an iPhone or Siri voice commands. Select TVs from Sony and Vizio will also offer HomeKit and AirPlay 2 whereas Samsung TVs offer AirPlay 2 only.

To use AirPlay 2 and HomeKit on a 2019 LG TV you must install the latest firmware, which is rolling out to the UM series over the coming weeks. LG TVs from 2018 and earlier will not receive the update.
LG's 2019 UM series TVs are now available across the US and Europe. See the table below for prices and dealers.
