Denon has launched two new soundbars. DHT-S516H supports AirPlay 2 while DHT-S716H can be expanded to 5.1 surround by connecting additional Heos speakers.

Denon is expanding its line-up of soundbars by adding DHT-S516H and DHT-S716H on top of its affordable DHT-S316 soundbar. Both of the new soundbars come with Heos built-in, allowing users to connect them to a multiroom set-up. - "The advanced DHT-S716H creates breathtaking sound from just one unit, and optionally pairs with the Denon DSW-1H for even more seismic bass in big rooms, while the smaller DHT-S516H ships in a set with a dedicated wireless subwoofer for balanced Denon sound," the company said.

Denon's S516 supports Apple AirPlay 2 allowing you to connect it wirelessly to Apple TV and use it in multiroom together with AirPlay-compatible speakers from other brands. The more expensive S716 drops AirPlay 2 functionality but adds other features such as four HDMI inputs and optional 5.1 surround expansion by connecting Heos 1, 3, 5, and 7 as rear channels. Together with the S716 soundbar, Denon is also launching a wireless subwoofer (DSW-1H).

Unlike major AV brands such as LG, Samsung, and Sony, Denon has so far chosen to ignore object-based audio formats such as Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and MPEG-H. The most feature-packed S716 will however handle two lossless audio formats; Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA. HDMI eARC is not supported. Denon DHT-S516H (£699 / $799 / €799), DHT-S716H (£799 / $899 / €899) and DSW-1H (£599 / $599 / €599) are rolling out now and will be more widely available starting next month.
