07 Oct 2019 | Rasmus Larsen |

Twitch is now available as an official app for Apple TV, offering broadcasts of eSports competitions, recorded game sessions, and more.

Twitch for Apple TV

Twitch, now owned by Amazon, has been absent from Apple TV since the launch of tvOS almost four years ago, possibly as a result of Amazon and Apple's feud. In the meantime, some viewers have turned to the alternative Twitchy app for Apple TV. That is no longer necessary. Today, Amazon has launched an official version of the Twitch app for tvOS, the operating system in Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K.

It has the same features as the apps for iOS and Mac, including broadcasts of eSports competitions, recorded game sessions, on-screen chat, your favorite channels, recommendations, and more - spanning Fortnite, PUBG and Overwatch to niche games Twitch has over 15 million daily users and competes with other services such as Microsoft Mixer.
