Apple TV app for LG TVs
LG has today announced that the Apple TV app is available on 2019 LG OLED TVs (B9, B9, E9, W9) and "NanoCell" LCD TVs (SM9, SM8). It will roll out on its UM7 and UM6 series later this year.
- "The Apple TV app gives LG TV owners the ability to subscribe to and watch Apple TV+, Apple’s new video subscription service that features popular Apple Originals such as 'The Morning Show', 'See', 'Servant' and 'Little America'," said LG.
In addition to the Apple TV+ streaming service, the app offers access to users' iTunes movie library. Users can buy or rent over 100,000 movies and TV shows from iTunes. Furthermore, users can subscribe to Apple TV channels, which are partner streaming services such as HBO and Showtime available through Apple's app.

LG said that the app supports streaming in up to 4K resolution and Dolby Vision HDR, making LG the first partner to offer Dolby Vision streaming through the app. There was no mention of Dolby Atmos, which appears to still be reserved for the Apple TV box. The app is already available on the Roku and FireTV platforms as well as Samsung TVs. Neither offer Dolby Vision or Atmos through the app.
