Xbox Series X Optimized
At its first Xbox 20/20 event - a monthly event for the rest of the year - Microsoft and partners revealed the first games that are 'Xbox Series X Optimized', meaning designed for its next-generation Xbox Series X game console in some way or another.
'Xbox Series X Optimized' can include 4K resolution, up to 120 frames per second (not necessarily in 4K), ray-tracing, DirectStorage, and more. DirectStorage "is an all new I/O system designed specifically for gaming to unleash the full performance of the SSD and hardware decompression" while ray-tracing delivers "improved lighting, shadows and reflections as well as more realistic acoustics and spatial audio".
- "We’re also happy to share that all of the games included in today’s show will be Xbox Series X Optimized, meaning they are built to take advantage of the powerful Xbox Series X features that make games look and feel incredible, including 4K resolution at up to 120 frames per second, DirectStorage, hardware-accelerated DirectX raytracing, super-fast load times and much more," the company explained.
The company also confirmed 10 games that will support 'Smart Delivery', which means that if you purchase the game on Xbox One it will also be available free of charge on Xbox Series X - and vice versa. These titles are marked with an asterisk (*) in the table below.
