Twitch, the live streaming platform for gamers, is now available for webOS-based LG TVs. The app supports multiple languages.
Twitch for LG TVs
Amazon's Twitch is expanding to more TV platforms. The app launched on tvOS (Apple TV) in September 2019 and is now also available for the webOS platform in LG TVs.
- "LG Smart TV is excited to announce the release of Twitch, a welcomed addition to our Smart TV service as part of our efforts to provide a better experience for our users," the company said.
The app features broadcasts of eSports competitions, recorded game sessions, on-screen chat, channels, recommendations, and more. It supports Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, German, Greek, English, Spanish, Finnish, French, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese, Chinese, according to LG's description of the app.
The companies are not specifying TV compatibility but the app has been confirmed to work on LG TVs from 2017 and later, specifically TVs with webOS 3.5 and later. LG is not providing webOS updates to previous TVs. The Twitch app may work on older LG TVs too but we are unable to confirm full compatibility at this time.
Twitch is also available for Amazon's FireTV and Google's Android TV but has yet to arrive on TV platforms like Samsung's Tizen and Panasonic's My Home Screen.
