The Lord of the Rings trilogy has arrived in the US and Europe in remastered editions with 4K Dolby Vision and Atmos. Watch Peter Jackson talk about the remastering process.

One release to rule them all
Some of the most iconic movies in modern history are now available to enjoy in higher video and audio quality. The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), The Two Towers (2002) and The Return of the King (2003) in both theatrical and extended versions.

Director Peter Jackson has been involved in the remastering process where the movies have been rescanned from the original 35mm negatives, for release in 4K Dolby Vision. The releases also include a new soundtrack in Dolby Atmos. 

If you have bought the movies from a service like iTunes, they have been upgraded free of charge in the US and Europe. In the US, the UHD Blu-ray discs are rolling out starting this week. In Europe starting next week. Check Amazon US, Amazon DE, Amazon UK or your local retailer. A 'Middle-earth Ultimate Collectors Edition' with extras will be released in summer 2021.



The remastering process
The Hobbit trilogy is also available for streaming now in the US, and is rolling out in Europe (The Battle of the Five Armies (2014) is ready). The trilogy will also be released on UHD Blu-ray.
