HBO Max now available on PlayStation 5

In addition to it bringing HBO Max to Roku, WarnerMedia has announced that the app is now also available on Sony's PlayStation 5.

WarnerMedia is busy expanding availability of the HBO Max app ahead of its international expansion next year and the plan to debut theatrical movies on the streaming service. The HBO Max app is now also available on PS5. - "Starting today, HBO Max is now available on PlayStation 5, the latest videogame console from Sony Interactive Entertainment. PlayStation 5 users in the U.S. can download the HBO Max app, sign in, and start streaming the platform’s full array of premium programming," announced WarnerMedia. The app was already available on PlayStation 4

The launch comes just in time for the Wonder Woman 1984 that will premiere on HBO Max and in theaters on December 25, 2020. In addition, Warner Bros is planning to release all of its 2021 movies, including The Matrix 4, Dune, and The Suicide Squad, simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max at no additional cost. Dolby Atmos is ruled out as PS5 does not support Dolby Atmos decoding for apps.
