08 Jul 2021 | Rasmus Larsen |

Paramount has announced that the original four Star Trek movies will be released on UHD Blu-ray on September 6-9. A Director's Edition of the first movie will debut exclusively on Paramount+.

Star Trek in 4K HDR

Paramount has remastered the original four movies from 1979, 1982, 1984, and 1986. All four will be available in 4K Dolby Vision HDR on UHD Blu-ray and presumably online too. - "For the first time ever, experience the original four Star Trek films in stunning 4K Ultra HD. Newly remastered from original elements for optimal picture quality, each film is presented with Dolby Vision and HDR-10," the studio announced. There was no mention of Dolby Atmos audio. Star Trek: The Original 4-Movie Collection will include eight discs; four UHD Blu-ray discs and four Blu-ray discs, along with access to digital copies of the theatrical version of each film. The boxset will be available in the UK on September 6, North America on September 7, France on September 8, and Germany on September 9. The studio did not comment on its plans for the six Star Trek movies released between 1989 and 2002. The three most recent Star Trek movies are already available in 4K HDR. The next movie will premiere in 2023.
