Amazon could launch its own Amazon-branded TVs, ranging from 55 to 75 inches, as early as October in the US, according to a report by Business Insider.
Amazon-branded TVs
Amazon is currently selling Fire TV players and is licensing its Fire TV platform to other TV brands like Insignia and Toshiba. Soon, consumers in the US may be able to buy TVs with an Amazon logo on the frame.
Business Insider reports that Amazon is planning to launch 55- to 75 inch TVs with built-in Alexa voice control. The company has reportedly been working on the project for nearly two years.
Amazon's Fire TV platform
The TVs will be designed and manufactured by third parties, likely China's TCL. In addition, Amazon is designing a separate TV in-house, the report said.
It is not a stretch to imagine Amazon putting its logo on a TV as it already has several hardware products available, but the move would put Amazon in direct competition with the other TV makers that sell TVs through its online portal.
No other significant details were included in the report and Amazon has not commented on the report.
