The first half of the 2022 Friday Night Baseball season will be free to watch on Apple TV+ starting today in eight countries including the US and Canada. In 5.1 spatial audio. Here's the schedule.

MLB on Apple TV+
Last month, Apple announced that it is getting into live sports programming through a deal with Major League Baseball (MLB) to broadcast two games on Friday nights in the United States, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Japan, Mexico, Puerto Rico, South Korea, and the United Kingdom.

- "Apple and Major League Baseball (MLB) today announced the first half of the 2022 “Friday Night Baseball” schedule. These scheduled games are available to anyone with internet access, for free, only on Apple TV+. “Friday Night Baseball” will premiere April 8 with two marquee games."


 Friday Night Baseball on Apple TV+

It starts today with the New York Mets versus the Washington Nationals and the Houston Astros versus the Los Angeles Angels. Scheduled games are free and available to anyone with an internet connection in the eight listed countries, no Apple TV+ subscription required – at least for the time being. 

- "Each game broadcast will employ state-of-the-art cameras, including high-speed Phantoms, the high-resolution Megalodon, and more throughout the season to present vivid, live-action shots, and offer immersive sound in 5.1 with spatial audio enabled," said Apple. "Throughout the “Friday Night Baseball” broadcasts, fans can enjoy on-screen callouts about batters’ walk-up songs from Apple Music, test their knowledge of baseball trivia with help from Siri, and more."

5.1 spatial audio requires AirPods 3, Pro or Max on a compatible device such as Apple TV 4K (tvOS 15 or later).

Apple's MLB coverage includes live pre- and postgame shows hosted by Lauren Gardner, along with a rotating group of analysts and former MLB players including Carlos Peña, Cliff Floyd, and Yonder Alons. Additional shows include "Countdown to First Pitch" (Thursdays) and "MLB Daily Recap". In the US and Canada, viewers have access to 24/7 live programming with MLB game replays, news and analysis, highlights, classic games, and more.

The MLB deal will expand to additional countries at a later date, said Apple.

To watch the games you simply need to open the Apple TV app on the Apple TV box, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Google TV, Smart TV, Roku or supported game console. You can also watch on iPhone, iPad, Mac and on tv.apple.com.
