'Xbox Everywhere' initiative to include TV stick, Samsung TV app, more

Despite delays, Microsoft is still planning to launch Xbox streaming apps on TV platforms as well as its own TV stick as part of a new 'Xbox Everywhere' initiative.

Microsoft had originally planned to launch Xbox TV apps "in the next 12 months" from November 2020. Obviously, that did not materialize. Microsoft is instead planning to launch in the next 12 months, according to GamesBeat’s sources.

- "In the next 12 months, Microsoft plans to release an Xbox cloud-gaming streaming device. This will likely look like an Amazon First Stick or perhaps a small, Roku-like puck. And like a Roku, the Xbox streaming device will enable you to access movie and TV services in addition to a library of games through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate," reported GamesBeat.

The initiative will be known as Xbox Everywhere, according to GamesBeat and The Verge's Tom Warren.

The launch will include a TV app for Samsung Smart TVs to let you play Xbox games via internet streaming.

In June 2021, Microsoft announced its intentions to launch an Xbox app for Smart TVs saying that it will "embed the Xbox experience directly into internet-connected televisions with no extra hardware required except a controller". However, no partners were named at that time.

Microsoft is also planning to let you play all Xbox games that you own through the cloud and the upcoming TV apps, according to one of the reports.
