LG's first OLED gaming monitor with DisplayPort is now available

29 Jun 2022 | Rasmus Larsen |

LG has launched a 48-inch 4K OLED gaming monitor in its UltraGear range. It comes with anti-flare coating, HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 for $1500.

First revealed by FlatpanelsHD in May, the 48-inch LG 48GQ900 is designed for 'next-gen' console and PC gaming up to 4K 138 Hz. It is based on the same LG Display WOLED panel found in LG OLED TVs.

48GQ900 is a large and costly display but unlike the majority of LCD monitors on the market you can actually enjoy games in HDR (High Dynamic Range) quality on this monitor, which has very low response time too.

On the other hand you may want to consider whether a 48-inch LG OLED TV is a better option for you, especially for console gaming, as these are considerably cheaper ($800 for the 48-inch LG C1) and still come with HDMI 2.1 ports (but not DisplayPort).

The gaming monitor is equipped with 3x HDMI 2.1 ports, 1x DisplayPort 1.4, headphone out, and SPDIF out. In addition, it features built-in 2x 20W speakers as well as various gaming features such as an FPS counter, a fixed crosshair, and RGB LED lighting. It supports both HDMI VRR, AMD FreeSync Premium, and G-Sync Compatible.
