World's first bendable OLED TV (LG Flex) will cost $3000

LG OLED Flex is the world's first bendable TV that you can actually buy. It will be available starting in October for $3000.

LG's Flex was unveiled at IFA 2022 in late August and FlatpanelsHD published our first impressions here. Flex is basically a bendable version of LG C2, complete with 4K, HDR, webOS and TV tuners plus a few extra features such as WiFi 6.

- "LG OLED Flex ushers in a whole new era of screen customizability. Featuring the world’s first bendable 42-inch OLED screen, the LX3 is the perfect display for immersive console, PC and cloud gaming, and for enjoying live TV broadcasts and content streaming services. At the touch of a button on the remote control, the LG OLED Flex’s display can go from completely flat to spectacularly curved (900R)," said LG USA.

At $3000, the price of the 42-inch LG OLED Flex is more than double that of the 42-inch LG C2's suggested retail price and close to thrice that of C2's current retail price. In our view, the premium is too high for a bendable version of LG C2 even if it is a novel concept.

The launch timing and availability was announced for North America during CEDIA 2022. At IFA, LG said that Flex will be available "in most markets by October" so expect it to also soon appear in Europe and elsewhere. Its model name is LX3.
