LG has revealed the first 27-inch OLED gaming monitor. The WOLED-based 27GR95QE features 1440p resolution, 240Hz refresh rate, and 0.03 ms response time.

Earlier this year, Korean media reported that LG Display would soon start production of 27- and 32-inch WOLED panels for monitors.

The LG UltraGear 27GR95QE is the first consumer product based on the 27-inch panel.

A faster gaming monitor
With 240Hz refresh rate, 0.03 ms (g2g) response time and pixel-level luminance and color control, it should outclass all existing LCD-based gaming monitors in picture quality and the majority of gaming monitors in speed. A few LCD gaming monitors offer faster refresh rate but slower response time (LCD panels are not capable of the advertised 1ms response time).

LG 27GR95QE also features 2560x1440 resolution, VRR support (HDMI VRR, AMD FreeSync, Nvidia G-Sync), 98.5% DCI-P3 coverage, and HDR10 support. Peak brightness was not specified. It has two HDMI and one DisplayPort input.

It features an "anti-glare, low-reflection" coating but it is not clear how matte it is.

LG Display has been hesitant to enter the monitor segment with WOLED but advances in the technology appears to have made the company confident that it can prevent burn-in in most cases. The launch of WOLED and QD-OLED monitors in popular sizes such as 27 inches has the potential to upend the gaming monitor market.

Samsung Display may also start production of a 27-inch QD-OLED panel, according to a report earlier this month.

LG 27GR95QE will cost $999 when it becomes available in the near future.
