2022-2023 Samsung TVs gain Philips Hue ambient lighting integration

04 Jan 2023 | Rasmus Larsen |

The Philips Hue Sync TV app lets owners of a newer Samsung TV seamlessly synchronize Philips Hue lighting in the home to the action on-screen. But it is not cheap.

Philips is still the only TV brand to offer built-in mood lighting with Ambilight but a new paid app brings something similar to Samsung TVs. It will work with anything you watch or play on the TV, and it supports all video formats including 8K, 4K and HDR10+.

The user can select which Philips Hue lamps to sync via the app and adjust place and height in relation to their TV. The user can also adjust lighting intensity, brightness, select video or game mode, enable auto-start, and more.

No other TV makers have announced compatibility. - "We’re excited to bring the Philips Hue Sync TV app to Samsung TVs together with Philips Hue," said James Pi, Head of Experience Planning Group, Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. "This innovative app offers our users a new way of experiencing TV content by immersing themselves in their favorite movie or game. It brings entertainment via our TVs to a whole new level."
