8K TV sales are so slow that TCL is pressing the pause button. The Chinese TV maker has no plans to launch any 8K TVs this year. The confirmation came during a CES 2023 briefing with TCL's leadership team for North America. - "(We're) not planning any 8K TVs for 2023. Looking at the market, it is not what people had expected. So focus is on 4K and to make the best 4K TVs we can. We are just not seeing the huge demand for 8K," said Scott Ramirez, VP of Product Marketing and Development, TCL North America. TCL Europe's CES announcements did not include any 8K TVs either. The full European line-up will be announced this spring. TCL Europe did not launch any 8K TVs in 2022.
