You can look forward to Extraction 2, Murder Mystery 2, Zack Snyder’s sci-fi action movie Rebel Moon, and Luther: The Fallen Sun.

Netflix has confirmed close to 50 movies for 2023, and it typically announces additional titles throughout the year. Some of the movies will play for a short time in cinemas in select regions, but most go straight to streaming on Netflix, which has become the most productive Hollywood film studio in record time.

Whether it’s big action blockbusters, intimate dramas, romantic comedies, sci-fi thrillers, international escapades, family adventures or eye-opening documentaries — we are delivering films for everyone!," announced Netflix.

Netflix is not the only new player in Hollywood, though. Amazon and Apple are also ramping up investments in movies (and MGM for Amazon's part), and subscribers should see more big movie projects come to fruition in 2023 and 2024, on top of theatrical movies from Disney, Universal, Warner etc. that will hit streaming services after the theatrical exclusivity window.

Most of the new movies are expected to be available to stream in 4K HDR and/or Dolby Atmos, but Netflix is not yet experimenting with new or premium formats such as high frame rate or IMAX. Disney+ is planning to expand its partnership with IMAX this year but it remains to be seen if Avatar: The Way of Water can be experienced at home in HFR.
