After the release of Sony's PlayStation VR 2, Meta is cutting prices on its Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro VR headsets by up to $500.
- "Our goal has always been to create hardware that’s affordable for as many people as possible to take advantage of all that VR has to offer," said Meta, formerly Facebook, who has acquired Oculus.
Meta increased prices in July 2022 citing increased costs, but the company now heading in the opposite direction, seemingly due to sluggish demand and increased competition from Sony.
The 256GB Meta Quest 2 has dropped from $500 to $430 while the price of the 128GB Meta Quest 2 will remain unchanged.
The Meta Quest Pro will drop significantly from $1500 to $1000. It launched in October 2022 as a high-end VR headset but still uses subpar LCD panels.
