BenQ launches its first OLED gaming monitor

14 Mar 2023 | Rasmus Larsen |

Unveiled earlier this year, BenQ's 48-inch WOLED gaming monitor is now available in the US, the UK, Germany and other regions. It features 4K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and two HDMI 2.1 ports.

BenQ is late to the party but is finally beginning its transition away from the ageing LCD technology. The Mobiuz EX480UZ is based on LG Display's 48-inch WOLED panel. No plans for a smaller 42-inch version were announced, and BenQ has not commented on QD-OLED yet.

It offers many of the same features of considerably cheaper 48-inch 4K OLED TVs, i.e. LG C2, but also comes with a couple of PC-focused features such as DisplayPort 1.4, and USB-C with 90W power delivery, in addition to two HDMI 2.1 ports. It is equipped with an adjustable stand and BenQ says that it is pre-calibrated to <2 DeltaE. Unlike traditional LCD gaming monitors, OLED can actually deliver HDR (High Dynamic Range) in games. The monitor supports HDR10 but BenQ did not specify peak brightness. It also has a specified 0.1 ms response time. BenQ's Mobiuz EX480UZ is available now in the US, the UK, Germany and other regions but at $1900 it is hard to call it competitive considering that you can buy the 48-inch LG C2 for less than $1000.
