Disney, Warner Bros and other Hollywood studios have once again adjusted their release strategies. The simultaneous release in theaters and on streaming is dead.
After over a year of closures and restrictions during covid-19, direct-to-streaming releases continuing into 2022 and 2023, and various experiments from especially Disney and Warner Bros, movie theaters are now regaining leverance.
Hollywood studios also look eager to return to theaters with big-budget movie releases, although the theatrical exclusivity window has been reduced significantly to between 30 and 90 days – much shorter than in the past.
Trailers for Dune: Part 2 and more
Dune: Part 2 is one of the most anticipated releases of 2023 and it is noteworthy because it follows Dune: Part 1 which was a controversial day-and-date release in theaters and HBO Max in the US. That experiment is officially over – at least for now.
Disney has also abandoned the simultaneous release but is still giving certain new releases an exclusive streaming premiere.
Warner Bros. has released the trailer for Dune: Part 2 showcasing stunning visuals and epic action scenes. The movie is expected to be one of the biggest releases of the year after its premiere in early November.
Here is the Dune: Part 2 trailer along with trailers for other major releases of 2023.
Movies are returning to theaters.
