Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill was released 20 years ago this coming October and to celebrate the anniversary the classic movie will be released in a 4K remaster.
The news was confirmed by Lionsgate who has landed the distribution rights to both Kill Bill movies and Jackie Brown. The studio did not say exactly what will happen to the other two movies, except that it plans to do something.
- "It was a real coup for us to get the three Quentin Tarantino movies. We have eight, which really gives our library a unique situation in Hollywood. And we’re going to take advantage of that," said Jim Packer, president of worldwide TV and digital distribution at Lionsgate.
UHD Blu-ray – streaming, too?
Lionsgate already had the rights to the iconic moviemaker Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs, Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight and Death Proof.
Tarantino is proponent of theaters and physical home entertainment formats, so we are likely to get Kill Bill on UHD Blu-ray disc while a 4K streaming version is possible but not guaranteed.
Lionsgate confirmed that it will release the 4K remaster of Kill Bill later this year.
