The Steam Link app on Samsung TVs has started informing users that it will no longer work after November 30, 2023. It is time to start looking for alternatives.
In 2017, Samsung and Valve partnered to introduce Steam Link on 2016 and 2017 Samsung Smart TVs. Steam Link lets you stream games from your PC (with Steam) over your local network to a TV screen and play with a compatible game controller.
The Steam Link app is also available for newer Samsung models but was strangely missing from the app store on 2022 and 2023 models – we now know why.
Will stop working on November 30
Owners of Samsung TVs have this week started seeing a notification when they open the Steam Link app, according to multiple reddit posts.
- "Steam Link will no longer be available on Samsung TV after November 30th, 2023. For information on games purchased in the Steam store, please contact Steam support," the message reads.

It appears to affect all generations of Samsung Smart TVs. This is, of course, very unfortunate since Steam Link was one of the features the TVs were sold with, and it exemplifies the broader issue of Smart TVs losing apps and features post-purchase.

It is relatively short notice so it is time look for alternatives. The Steam Link app is available on Apple TV (tvOS) and Android TV / Google TV including devices such as Chromecast and Nvidia Shield. Alternatively, you can look into alternative solutions such as GeForce Now or Shadow.
