Disney+, Max, Prime Video, Paramount+, Peacock and even IMAX will be available at launch, but Netflix is not playing ball and will block even its iPad app from running on Apple Vision Pro.
Update: YouTube and Spotify apps will not be available either on Apple Vision Pro, reports Bloomberg.
Netflix has not been highlighted in any of Apple's communications for the Vision Pro, and the streaming giant has now confirmed to Bloomberg that its app will not be available at the launch.
- "Our members will be able to enjoy Netflix on the web browser on the Vision Pro, similar to how our members can enjoy Netflix on Macs," Netflix said in a statement.
In other words, Netflix has not only decided against developing an app to leverage Apple Vision Pro's capabilities but has also opted to block its iPad app from running on the headset. Apple Vision Pro defaults to iPad apps if no visionOS version of the app is available.
This move marks the latest chapter in the problematic relationship between Apple and Netflix, which has previously led to Netflix disabling AirPlay support. On the other hand, Netflix has recently started to put more effort into its iOS and tvOS app.
Browser support without downloads
Netflix can be accessed through the Safari web browser on Apple Vision Pro, although it will not be in full quality and downloads will not be supported for those situations when you wish to use Apple Vision Pro while traveling.
A Netflix app is available on Meta's Quest headsets but it was custom-developed by Facebook's John Carmack for Samsung Gear VR and Meta Quest, and it has not received updates in years.

An IMAX app?
Apple has confirmed that "users will also be able to download and stream TV shows, films, sports, and more with apps from top streaming services, including Disney+, ESPN, NBA, MLB, PGA Tour, Max, Discovery+, Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+, Peacock, Pluto TV, Tubi, Fubo, Crunchyroll, Red Bull TV, IMAX, TikTok, and the 2023 App Store Award-winning MUBI" at the Vision Pro launch.
While it is disappointing to see Netflix not supporting it, we are intrigued by the mention of an IMAX app. A personal IMAX theatre inside Apple Vision Pro?
