Sony swept the 2024 TV Shootout in the US, where OLED TVs and LCD TVs were separated for the first time. Samsung came in second and LG third.
Only three brands participated this year as Hisense and TCL chose not to, according to Robert Zohn of Value Electronics, the organizer of the annual TV Shootout in the US. Panasonic and Philips' high-end TVs are not available in the US at this time.

The 2024 TV Shootout, which was the 20th annual shootout, was held this past weekend where the calibrated TVs were evaluated by expert judges in a series of tests, compared to the Sony BVM-HX3110 reference monitor.
For the first time, the TV Shootout had separate OLED and LCD TV categories. In past years, LCD models have trailed OLED models by a significant margin but LCD TVs also have advantages in some areas, such as full-screen brightness. Last year's 8K category was abandoned this year.
Sony emerged victorious in both categories in the 2024 TV Shootout, according to a report by Ecoustics.com. Most notably, the 2023 Sony A95L QD-OLED narrowly beat Samsung's 2024 S95D QD-OLED with the matte coating as well as LG's upgraded G4 2024 MLA OLED. Sony A95L also won the 2023 shootout.
Sony's Bravia 9 (XR90) also narrowly beat Samsung's QN95D, while LG's QNED90T finished last. The results can be seen below.
