In partnership with MediaTek, LG will introduce Bluetooth Ultra-Low Latency (ULL) in select 2025 OLED and LCD models, reducing controller input lag to just 1ms.
We will have to wait until CES 2025 in January to see LG's 2025 TV line-up, but the company is teasing one of the new features today, intended to enhance cloud gaming on webOS: Bluetooth ULL.
Bluetooth Ultra-Low Latency is an extension of the Bluetooth system that allows users to connect, for example, a game controller wirelessly to a TV with extremely low controller input lag down to 1 millisecond.
- "The ultra-low latency (ULL) Human Interface Device (HID) enhancement project aims to make Bluetooth gaming controllers as responsive as those using USB-wired or proprietary wireless communications. This enhancement, which intends to support polling rates as high as 1000 Hz, could also be used to improve the user experience for other latency-sensitive devices including controllers and sensors for augmented, virtual, or mixed reality (AR/VR/MR) scenarios," the Bluetooth organization explained on its website.
In partnership with MediaTek & Razer
At thus year's webOS summit, LG is partnering with Razer and MediaTek to also introduce the world's first game controller supporting BT ULL.
- "LG Electronics (LG) has collaborated with Razer and MediaTek to introduce the world’s first Bluetooth Ultra-Low Latency (BT ULL) Controller at LG webOS Summit 2024 on September 27. This groundbreaking technology was showcased through an LG webOS smart TV and Razer’s Bluetooth gaming controller, demonstrating the game-changing 1ms input lag," announced LG.

LG's webOS-based TVs are not powerful enough to run modern games locally in hardware, so the idea with BT ULL is to enhance cloud gaming from services such as Nvidia's GeForce Now and Amazon Luna, both available as apps for webOS. The Xbox app is still not available on LG TVs.
The company said that the first TVs to support BT ULL, along with WiFi 6, will be its 2025 OLED and "QNED" LCD models capable of 120Hz or higher. These models will use MediaTek's MT7921 WiFi chipset. The 2025 OLED models are likely to be known as B5, C5 and G5, unless LG decides to make shake things up.
Certification program for controllers
LG added that it introduce a BT ULL certification program for third-party game controllers to ensure seamless compatibility with webOS-based Smart TVs.
Razer will be the first company to obtain this certification.
- "LG is committed to consistently introducing more advanced features designed to immerse gamers in their favorite titles and to differentiate its gaming experiences," said Baik Seon-pill, head of LG Home Entertainment Product Planning. "As the LG webOS platform evolves, so will the features that make it the ultimate gaming platform for every type of gamer."
