Starting in the US later this month, and later in more countries, Apple TV+ will be available as an add-on subscription on Prime Video for $9.99 per month.
Apple's streaming service, Apple TV+, is joining more than 100 other streaming subscriptions within the Prime Video app, Amazon announced this week.
- "We want to make Apple TV+ and its award-winning library of series and films from the world’s greatest storytellers available to as many viewers as possible," said Eddy Cue, Apple’s SVP of Services. "We’re thrilled that Prime Video will now offer Apple TV+, giving viewers an incredible breadth of viewing options."
Apple TV+ inside Prime Video
If you choose to subscribe to Apple TV+ via Amazon, you will be accessing Apple TV+ content from the existing Prime Video app rather than the Apple TV app.
- "Once it becomes available later this month, Prime members will be able to subscribe to Apple TV+ with no extra apps to download beyond Prime Video, and no cable required. The subscription can be canceled at any time," explained Amazon.
Apple TV+ via Amazon will cost $9.99 per month, which is the regular price. The main advantage is that you can access all your streaming content from a single app, Prime Video.
Additional territories will follow, said Amazon, who pointed out that Prime Video reaches "hundreds of millions of subscribers" across the world.
Video and audio quality?
The companies did not comment on video and audio quality. Apple TV+ offers all of its movies and series in 4K, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos, but to achieve the one of the highest video bitrates today, you currently need to use Apple TV+ the Apple TV 4K box.
Apple TV+ offers series such as Severance, Slow Horses, Silo, Ted Lasso and The Morning Show as well as movies such as Wolfs and The Instigators.
