Ahead of the official announcement at CES 2025, LG's G5 OLED – the successor to the G4 – has been certified for 165Hz at 4K resolution.
LG's C5 and G5 have already been certified for sale in South Korea, according to Korea's Institute of Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic Testing's database, confirming that LG will stick to its model naming in 2025.
We also have an idea of what they will look like, and it appears there are no major design changes.
The photos of the C5 and G5 OLED TVs from the certification database suggest that the brighter MLA OLED panel (with its different anti-reflection solution) will still be exclusive to G5, although this is not something we can confirm yet.

LG G5 to support 165Hz
Additionally, the 65-inch LG G5 has now appeared in industry standards group VESA's ClearMR certification database. ClearMR is a certification for motion clarity.
Interestingly, the LG OLED65G5 has been certified with a refresh rate of 165Hz at 4K resolution, up from 144Hz in 2024 and 120Hz in earlier models.

While it could be a typo, we doubt it, as the model has achieved a ClearMR score of 10,000, up from 9,000 on the 2024 models with 144Hz. It is also worth noting that the 2024 LG OLED models appeared in AMD's FreeSync certification database around the same time last year, which is likely when LG ships test samples to partners.
Currently, there are no references to C5 in the certification database, so it remains to be seen whether it sticks to 144Hz or jumps to 165Hz like the more expensive G5.
