After previously being exclusive to Samsung Smart TVs, the Xbox app will soon bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to LG Smart TVs.
While the Xbox app has been available on a variety of mobile devices, it has been notably absent on the platform where it makes the most sense: the big screen.
This was due to Microsoft's exclusivity agreement from 2022 with Samsung. The app recently expanded to the first streaming boxes through a new partnership with Amazon’s Fire TV, though it still remains unavailable on actual Fire TV... TVs.
Xbox app coming to LG Smart TVs
At CES 2025, LG and Microsoft announced that the Xbox app will be coming to LG Smart TVs through a new Gaming Portal. LG did not specify the exact requirements, referring only to the "latest Smart TVs".

- "Our partnership with LG will help players easily discover and play games through the new Gaming Portal on LG Smart TVs," said Lori Wright, Corporate Vice President of Xbox. "We’re fortunate to have a great partner in LG who will bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to more players, letting new and longtime Xbox'ers find their favorite games and play with friends across screens."
The exact countries where it will be available have not yet been confirmed.
No Xbox console required
The Xbox app allows you to stream games directly to your TV over the internet, using a compatible controller. No Xbox console is needed. With Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, this includes titles like Call of Duty: BlackOps 6, NBA 2K25 and Hogwarts Legacy.
On LG Smart TVs, the Xbox app will join other cloud gaming services, including Nvidia GeForce Now, Amazon Luna, Blacknut and Utomik.
Stay tuned for more details as we receive them.
