Philips Hue has announced that its TV app is rolling out to LG Smart TVs, enabling ambient lighting synchronized with the content you are watching.
Ambilight is exclusive to Philips TV, but alternative solutions exist. One such option is the Philips Hue app, which was launched two years ago for Samsung Smart TVs.
The app is now rolling out to LG Smart TVs with webOS 24 or later. This includes 2025, 2024, 2023 and select 2022 models, after they have been updated to webOS 24.

Works with apps and HDMI devices
The app provides dynamic light synchronization with all devices, including built-in streaming apps as well as external HDMI devices like game consoles. It also supports content such as Dolby Vision and 8K.
This sets the app-based solution apart from the external Philips Hue box, which can only sync ambient lighting with external HDMI sources – not built-in apps.
Up to 10 Hue lights can be connected,
Full price or subscription
The app is rolling out globally, says Signify, the company behind Philips Hue. The price is 130 USD/Euros or 3 USD/Euros monthly.
