A roughly 9-month delay
As shown, webOS 24 is already rolling out to 2023 models and select 2022 models. The 2021 StanbyME will also begin receiving webOS 24 soon.
LG's 2025 TV models, launching between March and May, will ship with webOS 25 pre-installed. For older models, the webOS 25 update is scheduled to start rolling out in late 2025 and extend into early 2026 – a delay of roughly three quarters.
LG previously explained to FlatpanelsHD that the delay provides time to address bugs and optimize the OS for older hardware.
What's new in webOS 25
In 2025 TVs, webOS 25 introduces features such as an enhanced 'AI Sound Mode' and an AI Art generator that can also transform user-uploaded photos. Voice search benefits from AI improvements and the home hub gets a refreshed design. However, it remains unclear whether all these features will be available on older models after the update.
