What to expect in 2025
Netflix said that some of the biggest hits during the record-breaking quarter were Squid Game season 2, Carry-On, and the live boxing event Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson.
What can viewers look forward to in 2025? The company stated that it will continue to focus on movies and series while increasing investments in live TV and video games.
With the pandemic and Hollywood strikes in the rear mirror, viewers can look forward to new seasons of Stranger Things, Squid Game and Wednesday in 2025.
More live TV and video games
In live TV, Netflix plans to focus on major events rather than league sports in the short term. As for gaming, Netflix is narrowing its focus on key areas:
- "Going forward, we’re focusing on offering best-in-class titles in a few key genres including immersive, narrative games based on our IP , socially engaging party games, games for kids and mainstream established titles (like Grand Theft Auto)," Netflix stated.
One challenge for Netflix will be enabling gameplay on more devices than mobile and tablets. The company promised to expand support and increase the number of games that can played via cloud gaming on TVs in 2025. The long-term goal is to make games available across all device types, the company said.
