Sony is trying to reinvigorate interest in its VR headset for PlayStation 5 by announcing a significant price cut, bringing PlayStation VR2 down to $400, €450 and £400
The PlayStation VR2 has seemingly not been the hit Sony had hoped for. Convincing consumers to wear – and keep wearing – dorky glasses to enjoy content remains a challenge, affecting not just PS VR2 but also the Meta Quest and Apple Vision Pro.
Still, the VR experience can be amazing, and for those wanting a taste of the future of gaming, PlayStation VR2 is one of the best options right now. PS VR2 features OLED displays.
Prices slashed worldwide
At launch in February 2023, PlayStation VR2 carried an introductory price of $550, €600, and £530, making it more expensive than the PS5 console itself.
Sony's new official pricing is $400 / €450 / £400 – a significant price reduction worldwide.
- "For those of you who have been waiting for the opportunity to jump into PlayStation VR2 and experience what this generation’s innovative virtual reality system has to offer, we are happy to share some great news! Starting in March, we’re reducing the recommended retail price (RRP) of PS VR2," said Sony.
