In the competition against Samsung Display’s QD-OLED, LG Display’s next move for monitors is to introduce its Primary RGB Tandem technology, first announced in January for TVs. This technology delivers 20% improved efficiency along with better color and luminance. It is also known as 4-stack or 4th-generation OLED.
Starting with a 27" OLED
As confirmed by LG Display to FlatpanelsHD, the first monitor panel to incorporate Primary RGB Tandem technology will be a new 27-inch panel.
This 27-inch panel will feature 2560x1440 resolution and up to 1500 nits peak brightness (1.5% window) and up to 335 nits full-screen brightness, according to LG Display. For comparison, the existing 27-inch OLED panel peaks at 800 nits (10% window).

LG Display's current OLED monitor lineup. The 27" will soon be upgraded.
The new panel will also feature significantly improved color, although LG Display has yet to specify the exact improvement.
Additionally, there is a possibility that it could be the first dual-mode 27-inch OLED.
A gradual transition
Speaking to FlatpanelsHD, LG Display refrained from committing to a specific timeframe for mass production, but the panel is is listed as a 2025 product. It will then need to be adopted by consumer brands in their monitors.
LG Display has confirmed that it "plans to gradually apply its Primary RGB Tandem technology to its Gaming OLED lineup", meaning that larger monitor panels will receive the new OLED technology later on.
