Sony debuts refreshed UBP-X700/K UHD Blu-ray player
It is a new version of the existing UBP-X700, apparently without networking and streaming features. UBP-X700/K will be available starting in April/May. After Samsung and Oppo, LG recently discontinued all of its Blu-ray and UHD Blu-ray players. Sony, on the other hand, is still in the game, although it has scaled down its presence somewhat.Here comes the UBP-X700/K
Sony's new UBP-X700/K is a refreshed and scaled-down version of the existing UBP-X700. It is the first new UHD Blu-ray player from Sony since 2019. Japanese publication Monohika lists five differences between UBP-X700/K and UBP-X700:
- No Video & TV SideView app
- No networking features
- No video streaming apps
- No Spotify Connect support
- No Screen Mirroring support

It still features two HDMI outputs and support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision as well as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X audio. In addition to UHD Blu-ray discs, it will of course also spin Blu-rays and DVDs. See the specifications below.

The Sony UBP-X700/K will be available starting in April/May, depending on the region. In Japan, the suggested retail price is approximately 25% higher than the current street price of the older UBP-X700.
