The popular TV series was set to end with season 3, but will make a comeback with a fourth season, where Ted Lasso returns as a football coach – for a women's team.
Ted Lasso has been described as a comedy, but beneath the somewhat silly premise – an American football coach becoming a soccer coach in England – lies a much deeper story.
Like director Bill Lawrence's other series, such as Scrubs and Shrinking, Ted Lasso is ultimately about people, hope and optimism.
Season 4 on the way
After months of rumors, it is now official that Ted Lasso is back on the pitch. Both Apple and lead actor Jason Sudeikis have confirmed the news.
The official renewal comes nearly two years after season 3 ended.
In the fourth season, Ted Lasso will take charge of a women's team, according to Jason Sudeikis. Beyond that, not much is known about the new season.

Secondmost popular series
Ted Lasso was, until recently, the most-watched series on the Apple TV+ streaming service, only surpassed by the newer sci-fi series Severance.
The fourth season will also be available on Apple TV+ in 4K Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. A release date has not been announced yet.
- "‘Ted Lasso’ has been nothing short of a juggernaut, inspiring a passionate fanbase all over the world, and delivering endless joy and laughter, all while spreading kindness, compassion and unwavering belief," said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+. "Everyone at Apple is thrilled to be continuing our collaboration with Jason and the brilliant creative minds behind this show."
