After removing DTS audio support in the past and reintroducing it with its 2023 models, LG is once again dropping DTS support on its 2025 OLED and LCD TVs.
The confirmation comes from Vincent Teoh, who verified this through the EDID information on the LG G5. He believes this applies to all LG 2025 TVs, both OLED and LCD.
FlatpanelsHD agrees with Teoh's assessment about the full line-up, as we actually heard from industry insiders at CES 2025 that DTS would be removed from the 2025 models. We have just received our G5 sample and have not had time to verify this ourselves yet. We will also receive the C5 soon and will examine the impact of LG's decision on both models.
Back to just Dolby
With LG's 2023 and 2024 TVs, DTS support included both DTS:X (in DTS-HD MA) decoding for internal speakers and DTS passthrough via HDMI. However, there was no support for DTS:X IMAX Enhanced (DTS:X Profile 2), which prevented Disney+ from delivering DTS:X audio, as noted in our review of the LG G4 last year.

With the removal of DTS audio support, LG's 2025 TVs will once again support only Dolby audio formats. However, Google recently demonstrated Eclipsa Audio running on an LG TV.
If DTS support is important to you and you are considering an LG OLED TV, you might want to look at a 2024 model before they are fully phased out, typically by the third or fourth quarter of the year.
