Yesterday B&O announced the new 40-inch model of the acclaimed BeoVision 8. The entry-level TV combines new picture improvements such as 100 Hz for movement and Dynamic Contrast with sound performance that sets new standards.
Bang & Olufsen has elaborated on a number of features and tells us that the set has an integrated digital DVB-T tuner for terrestrial transmission. The DVB-T supports mpeg-2 and mpeg-4 meaning it can receive HDTV as well.
Plug-and-play modules can be added to the BeoVision 8, too, providing the user with more inputs and Beolink.
B&O also elaborated on the improved loudspeaker in BeoVision 8-40. First of all the power supply is more powerful. Voltage has been improved to 17V giving almost twice the power output.
Real soft-dome tweeters have been integrated. The BeoVision 8-26 and BeoVision 8-32 have two “full-tone” loudspeakers and 1 bass woofer. The BeoVision 8-40 has one bass woofer, two mid-range, and two soft-dome 3/4” tweeters.
This requires 5 channels compared to 3 on the smaller TVs.
Finally the larger cabinet improves sound quality. The sound decoder supports: Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS 5.1, Dolby Pro-Logic ll, DTS NEO:6.
The price is approximately 4.200 Euro inclusive the Beo4 remote control. If you already have the Beo4 you can deduct around 200 Euro to get just below a 4000 Euro price tag.
BeoVision 8 is also available in 26 inches (BeoVision 8-26) and 32 inches (BeoVision 8-32).
