Samsung has developed a variant of an IPS panel called Super PLS (Plane to Line Switching). The new PC monitor range SA850 is the first to utilize the Super PLS LCD panel technology.

Samsung unveiled the two SA750 and SA950 models at CES 2011 but it seems that they also have a SA850 monitor range coming. SA850 is aimed for graphic and photography and utilized Samsung’s Super PLS panels.

PLS is short for Plane to Line Switching and is basically a variant of the popular IPS technology used in for example Dell’s professional monitor range.
SA850 will be available in 27 inches with a 2560x1440 resolution. It also features a wide gamut panel (100 % sRGB), 5 ms (g2g) response time, 178/178 viewing angles, and 10 bit color depth. The stand has tilt, height, swivel and pivot adjustability. Samsung also mentions an ECO light sensor, USB 3.0 ports and a black finish.

It looks like Samsung will be bringing new CA650 and SA650 ranges to the market as well. We don’t have the full spec list at this point but it looks like they will feature VA panels.
