JVC exits TV production
JVC withdraws from TV production

Just a few years ago you could spot JVC TVs in most stores but since then the increased competition has forced JVC to take action. JVC now says that they plan to withdraw from TV production after winding down output.

JVC withdraw from TV production

JVC – or Victor Co. of Japan – has been making TVs since 1953, and most recently on their Thailand productions plant. Around year 2000 JVC started seeing losses on the TV business and in 2008 – when they merged with Kenwood - JVC pulled their TVs from European and US markets.

JVC TVs are no more

JVC wants to phase out TV production at their Thai factory now and switch to other focus areas such as car audio, surveillance cameras and commercial-use image displays. The staffing level will also be reduced from the current 600 now.

However, you will still be able to buy JVC TVs in stores. JVC has sold the marketing rights to their name to various TV manufacturers around the world. But JVC’s own TV business will close later in 2011, JVC confirms.
