IKEA presents a TV. Yes, the Swedish Furniture company is launching a TV. The TV is dubbed Uppleva (which is Swedish for experience) and is part of a furniture solution. Everything is included and stored away below, including a 2.1 speaker system and a Blu-ray/DVD player. It is controlled with one simple remote control.

IKEA is tired of clutter, movie players, TV boxes and confusing remotes. Therefore they have created their own TV / furniture solution that is simple, yet highly customizable, in order to fit it inside most living rooms.

IKEA delivers the whole package. An integrated Blu-ray/DVD player is tucked away in the cabinet below. A 2.1 speaker system is also integrated and IKEA has created a wireless subwoofer. All cables are hidden inside a cable tray and inside the furniture. Buyers can even connect extra equipment via one of the four HDMI inputs inside the cabinet.

The TV has been created in a collaboration with Chinese TCL; one of China’s largest TV manufacturers. Technical specifications include Full HD, LED, Smart TV, 400 Hz MI, support for DivX HD and WiFi.

IKEA Uppleva will be available in black or white. It comes in three different sizes (the smallest one being 24 inches) and will be available in select European countries from June/August. In 2013, IKEA will launch their TV world-wide. Prices start at 6500 SEK or around 950 USD (including a 5-year guarantee) but it obviously depends on your furniture setup.
